Details of Adult Class

The introductory Chinese class is targeted at working adults with a strong interest of learning the language so they can have basic communications in Chinese and better understand the Chinese history and culture. The goal is to better prepare students for their future business interaction with Chinese native speakers since a lack of understanding of Chinese culture may form a significant barrier to communication. The class will include images, videos, and texts to facilitate students comprehending the vocabulary and grammar, as well as the cultural difference between East and West. The curriculum covers a number of commonly found topics with regard to do business in China, such as Chinese banquets, gift-giving, greeting business partners, etc. By conversing with native speakers in and out class, students learn how to perform simple tasks in Chinese, including self-introduction, shopping, asking for directions, and so on.
